When I think back to how I grew up I remember my father getting home after a long days work of manual labor. He would enter the house, go straight to take a shower and when he exited the bedroom he would sit down at the kitchen table at the exact moment that my mother was serving him his dinner for the night. Those were simple times but I always knew exactly where he would be every single night and after he ate I knew I could talk to him about anything. My father worked for the same place for over 35 years he was loyal to the place that provided a living for his family.
My mother worked for the same bank for 35 years and retired from there. She took care of the house and her family 24/7 and always had a piping hot meal on the table for that time as well. I really don't understand when she slept but she is retired now enjoying her gardening and trips to the bay house. Deserved!!
Our family knows what loyalty is and it seems that this loyalty is not so common place in society today, or is it?
On a recent fishing trip we ended up eating at a Whataburger in Falfurrias, Texas. As we sat finishing up our meals a man came by to clear our table. Upon grabbing an empty tray off the table I noticed his rings on his rough hands. He wore two rings that had the Whataburger logos on them and I was instantly in awe. I love Whataburger and had never seen these logo rings before. He went on to tell me that they were anniversary gifts from Whataburger for 15 and 20 years of service. He told me that they were one of his most closely loved possessions and had even pawned his wedding ring before but would never give up the rings. Whataburger loyalty on another level.
