Hey guys i was wondering if there is anyone here can give me some guidance on fresh water fishing like lures to use and what species of fish they are for i know bass is the big thing but honestly clueless when it comes to that appreciate in advance

Keep it simple to start out. Get you a few topwaters a walking style bait and maybe a buzzbait then get a couple chaterbaits and spinnerbaits and some small swimbaits. Learn to tie a drop shot rig and get a few soft plastics like a robo worm and a minnow style bait and some drop shot weights and hooks and that will cover just about anything to get you started.

No problem anytime.

Sup Ed. I did quite a bit of freshwater before moving to Freeport. You can't go wrong with a live nightcrawler or red wiggler under a bobber. I also like to float Salmon eggs on the small brass salmon egg hooks. I have slayed thousands of panfish and bass with this method. For plastics, man I keep it simple and go Texas or Carolina rig, but wacky rigs work great too. Try swimming a live minnow with a small crimp on weight about 6" up the leader, this works great for bottom fishing.

Good Luck!

One of my favorite youtube guys to watch when it comes to freshwater would be Greg Blanchard. Of course he is fishing in California and some of the techniques he uses may not be 100% applicable to all of Texas waters. As for me, I find that the ole standby is a senko, either Texas rigged or rigged with a wacky hook to be one of my best producers. A bladed jig (chatter bait) and spinnerbaits are good search baits when you want to fan cast and see if there are any bass around that will go for a reaction bite. If you know there are lots of shad around then a square bill crank bait can be a great lure to use. And if the bite gets real slow then you have to slow down and entice them with a drop shot. A couple other methods to mention would be the Neko rig and shaky head for a more finesse presentation on pressured ponds/lakes.
I may be found kayak fishing the marshes these days but I did start my fishing journey as a freshwater angler walking the banks of my local bayous where I targeted bass.

Hey there Eduardo,Carlos here,we met in Portmansfield a while back..I like using Rooster Tail spinners, with a medium to fast retrieve, this lure you dont want it to hit bottom, Cause they snag easily, they come prerigged with a treble hook and my favorite colors to use are Fire tiger and white
.... Next is donkey rigged Flukes for fall bass fishing with a slow to medium retrieve letting it sink to the bottom and small jerks while reeling it in! It takes some practice to get them both to hover, and when you jerk the rig both Flukes tend to dart around in different directions almost looks like schooling bait fish! Check out youtube on how to setup fluke donkey rigs and how to retrieve them! Last would be the Texas rigged on weighted weedless hook "Zoom" lizard ! You can let it sink and give slow, medium,or fast retrieve! Slow you can work the bottom medium let's you fish the mid water column if the fish are suspended and fast if the fish are actively feeding they will chase it down and sometimes you see them chasing it you slow down just enough for them to catch up to it and chomp it down before setting the hook! For the lizards I like black, white, bubble gum, watermelon, and pumpkin! There's videos on the Tube that show how to effectively use all these styles of lures you just gotta find your sweet spot! Pointer for the rooster tails...buy 3 if you snag one you have back upstairs! Good luck there's some bass waiting to smash the lures like we like smashing like buttons! Lol! Fish on!!!
